Hurricane Irma really devastated much of the Caribbean and areas of the Southeastern US. Hurricane Maria is currently tearing through the Caribbean as well. With all of the talk about hurricanes, earthquakes, and storms in general, I figured I would address some of your concerns about how mobile homes hold up in a storm.

Manufactured homes have been built according to Wind Zone specifications since 1994. This means that homes set up since that year must meet strict wind zone guidelines to meet code and pass inspection. 

There are currently 3 Wind Zone tiers based upon the anticipated impact in your county. For example, there are only 3 counties in NC that require Wind Zone 3, more that require Wind Zone 2, and most only require Wind Zone 1.

Have you heard all of the horror stories and just can't quite come to a place where you can consider a mobile home? The great news is manufactured homes aren't what they used to be. They are intended for a totally different purpose than they were decades ago. The fact is that people really were not intending on living in mobile homes for very long in years past. The goal was to live in one just long enough to SAVE UP and BUILD a site-built home one day. With housing prices skyrocketing however, consumers began living in mobile homes with the intention of staying there for a lifetime. The industry began to react to this need and that is why we have manufactured homes now that are intended to be much less mobile.

Sure, there are still entry-level homes out there built similar to the mobile homes of old. How else can you get 1600 sq. ft. turnkey for less than $60,000? That is a mere $35/sq. ft. That type of home serves a purpose. Would you rather live on the street or pay rent to a landlor...

What kind of home do I really budget for? This is a question that we must answer every single time we sell a home. When you are looking to purchase a home, especially if it is your first time, you really do not know what to do or what to expect. The fact is that financing a home can be really frustrating if you do not have someone helping to guide you through the process...that is where our team comes in. 1) Disconnect all hoses from exterior faucets when not in use

2) Ensure heat is on in the home to keep water pipes from not turn heating unit to "off" when away

3) Periodically check for leaks in and under your home

4) Allow faucets to barely drip when not in use if temperatures are expected to drop below freezing

5) In the event that heating unit is not working or if any leaks occur, please contact someone immediately to prevent further damage

6) Ensure space/kerosene heaters are free from obstruction

7) Ensure that fireplaces are free from obstruction (ie. decorations on mantles)
